Pinpoint Acquires Assets of Spiral Communications, LLC of Nebraska City

Pinpoint has finalized and closed the Asset Purchase Agreement with Spiral Communications LLC as of September 17, 2021.

September 17, 2021 (Cambridge, NE) -- Pinpoint Communications, Inc. (“Pinpoint”) has announced it has completed an acquisition of Spiral Communications, LLC (“Spiral”) Nebraska assets and customers. While current customers will be transitioned to the new branding of Pinpoint, the company will continue to operate per usual for the immediate future.

President of Pinpoint, Tom Shoemaker and Owner of Spiral James Gapinski have expressed the shared values in curating reliable sources of broadband connection in rural communities as well as upholding a higher standard for the telecommunications industry.

“When we founded our company, our goal was to provide reliable, high-speed internet to our customers,” Gapinski said. “We succeeded in building a reliable network that our customers can count on for internet connectivity for the next decade or so. Pinpoint will continue our legacy and will now provide that capability to our Nebraska customers.”

“Pinpoint is excited about the acquisition of Spiral Communications LLC’s Nebraska Assets,” added Shoemaker. “Pinpoint’s long time industry experience will allow us to expand on what Spiral has already built. The network is a strategic investment for us and Pinpoint looks forward to the opportunities that will come with this acquisition. As a part of our overall growth strategy the Spiral assets fit nicely in our plan to grow inside the State of Nebraska.”

Pinpoint continues to make an outstanding commitment to improving communication services throughout Nebraska and will continue to expand its footprint in 2021 and the years to come.

Pinpoint Communications Hosts Governor Ricketts for Broadband Facilities Tour

August 10, 2021 (Cambridge, NE) – Governor Pete Ricketts recently joined representatives from Pinpoint Communications for a 1-day tour of broadband-served businesses in Southwest Nebraska in an effort to better understand the direct impact of CARES Act funding. By receiving this funding from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, Pinpoint continued to expand its footprint to serve more overlooked locations in rural Nebraska by providing Fiber-Optic Broadband services up to 10 GB.

“It was encouraging to visit with business owners and leaders in these rural communities to hear first-hand the impact fiber optic cable is making,” said Governor Pete Ricketts. “Expanding broadband across the state has enabled residents to have access to fast, reliable service. This directly impacts their livelihoods whether it be speed of processing credit cards, serving customers, or helping children being able to complete schoolwork. With the help of the Governor’s CARES Act funding, Pinpoint is helping rural, underserved communities grow and succeed.”

With support from the 2020 Nebraska Remote Access Grant, Pinpoint constructed fiber-to-the premises (FTTP) networks that connect homes and businesses in communities of Alma, Beaver City and Republican City including the areas along highway 89 from Beaver City to Alma. The first customers within the communities were connected to Pinpoint Fiber-Optic service as of December 22, 2020.

The tour began at The Bait Box convenience store in Republican City which opened for business April 1, 2021. “Utilizing Pinpoint’s service allows me to easily and quickly process credit cards, place orders and improves the speed of my point-of-sale system,” said Andy Miller, Bait Box owner. “Last month I had 4,445 sales, which clearly solidifies the need for this type of business in Republican City, and the unique co-op advertising and marketing I have done with Pinpoint has certainly benefited traffic to the store.”

To support expansion in these communities due to CARES Act funding, it was also necessary for Pinpoint to hire 5 additional employees, which created long-term employment opportunities in the region.

“The competitive advantage of fiber is tremendous. Pinpoint can offer speeds that the competition simply can’t. Along with the speeds, the reliability is second to none,” said Tom Shoemaker, Pinpoint President. “We have the capability to deliver unmatched symmetrical speeds up to our customers. With this type of available connectivity, it allows us great flexibility for us to offer service levels and prices that are budget-minded and unmatched by other providers. Pinpoint also doesn’t require a contract because we figure if we can’t deliver what you need, then we haven’t done our job for you as a customer.”

Governor Ricketts and the team then visited Travis and Trisha Scott at Waconda Boats in Republican City, had lunch with Alma Mayor Hal Haeker, continued to the Alma Library, Hogelands Market owned by Zack and Becky Mackenzie, a facilities tour in Stamford, Teresa Youngquist at the City of Beaver City, and the Beaver City Library.

“We were paying for a speed that our previous provider could never deliver,” said Trisha Scott, co-owner of Waconda Boats. “Pinpoint now offers reliability and top-notch customer service and we couldn’t be happier.”

Pinpoint continues to focus on providing the best technology and support from people that are truly committed to their customers.

Pinpoint finalizes A-1 Fiber of Auburn, NE purchase agreement as of December 31, 2020

December 31, 2020 (Cambridge, NE) -- Nebraska based fiber provider Pinpoint (Pinpoint Communications, Inc.) has announced the completed acquisition of A-1 Fiber of Auburn, Nebraska.

As Pinpoint begins to take possession of the network we intend to keep things as consistent as possible in the near term. Although A-1 Fiber will be carrying the new branding of Pinpoint, the company will continue to operate per usual for the immediate future.

President of Pinpoint, Tom Shoemaker and Scott Kudrna, Manager of A-1 Fiber have expressed the shared values in curating reliable sources of broadband connectivity in rural communities. As well as upholding a higher standard for the telecommunications industry.

“When I founded our company, it was imperative that our community have reliable, high-speed fiber internet,” Kudrna said. “I was tired of Auburn Businesses and Citizens having to settle for second rate service and technology from the large Telecommunication companies. Pinpoint is a Nebraska, Family-owned company that holds the same values as we do at A-1 Fiber. Auburn citizens and businesses will have a partner in telecom, not a provider waiting to gouge you when your contract runs out.”

“Pinpoint is excited about the acquisition of A-1. The acquisition allows us to expand our footprint in to a region we believe will have growth potential in the future. With Pinpoint’s industry experience, we will be able to expand on what A-1 has already built. We look forward to serving the customers and being involved in the community of Auburn,” added Shoemaker.

Pinpoint has made an outstanding commitment to improving broadband connectivity throughout rural Nebraska and the acquisition of A-1 Fiber continues to further expand on that goal for the company in 2021 and beyond.

March 3, 2020

Today, Pinpoint unveiled plans to build and execute a fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) network in McCook, NE that will initially encompass approximately 1,000 homes and businesses.  The decision to proceed with this project is a part of Pinpoint’s strategic plan to continue to invest in rural communities and provide them with world-class broadband networks.

Pinpoint, who completed a FTTP build for the Village of Oxford in November 2019, has been a long-time visionary and champion for the expansion of fiber into rural Nebraska focusing on areas that have been overlooked and underserved by incumbent providers.  Currently Pinpoint owns and operates an all-fiber network in four Southwest Nebraska communities including Cambridge, Bartley, Gothenburg and Oxford and plans to continue to seek out areas where people desire to have a better service but the response has been largely ignored.

Tom Shoemaker, President of Pinpoint, remarked on the new project, “We have been a part of the McCook community for many years and the time is right for us to introduce a fiber optic service to the community.  We believe that this project will help boost the community status and increase its value as it looks to the future for sustaining and recruiting current and new businesses and residents.  Pinpoint wants to be both a leader and investor in the growth of the economy and the community overall.  McCook provides the venue where we can leverage our expertise in the industry, allowing us to create an environment that is both technologically savvy and economically feasible for the community members. The opportunity for successful growth for all is immense.”

Pinpoint has a long standing history of being a committed, local provider in McCook with a reputation to serve the needs of the people.  This project further reinforces the company’s dedication to advancing expansion and developing opportunities by providing an integral world-class fiber network paired with affordable service to meet the ever-growing needs of our consumers.

Construction of the new network is set to begin in mid-March of this year.  The project, which will cover the northeastern quadrant of McCook, including The Reservation and business corridor of Norris Avenue, will be completed in two phases over the course of the year. Once plans are finalized, a progress map showing when neighborhoods will be receiving the new service will be published so that residents and businesses can plan accordingly.  Shoemaker added, “This is the best step in the right direction for the future of McCook and we are excited to be leading it.”

to Rural Nebraska

January 1, 2020

Pinpoint continues to take strides to promote the expansion of fiber broadband in rural communities and farms throughout Nebraska.  Most recently, the Pinpoint team engineered and implemented a fiber network in Oxford, Nebraska, overbuilding an older cable plant in order to deliver the state of the art service to Village residents.  The new service went live on November 1, 2019 with installation of the first new subscribers and transition of existing customers over to the new network.

Tom Shoemaker, President of Pinpoint Communications, had this to say about the company and its ventures, “Pinpoint has dedicated their work to providing a future-proof product to yet another small community that had been overlooked by the incumbent provider(s).  This is what we do.  We invest real dollars, time and people in a market to help increase the quality of living, inducing economic stimulation and providing the same experience for rural residents as offered in urban settings.  Recent sales of Pinpoint assets, including the Zona Communications investment last July, continue to help fund our growth.  We are committed to the future of Nebraska and will endeavor to expand fiber into areas that are lacking in support.  The need for reliable and fast internet service is growing exponentially.  No matter which vehicle you choose to access it, Pinpoint provides the ultimate highway to get you there.  We promote and encourage the use of over the top streaming of video content as an affordable option for viewing live and recorded television.  It is the way the world is going and we embrace it and are willing to help our customers adopt the new technology.”

Pinpoint currently operates an all-fiber network in four communities in southwest Nebraska including Bartley, Cambridge, Gothenburg and now Oxford.  In a recent press release, Pinpoint announced new management succession of its parent company, Pinpoint Holdings, Inc. following the retirement of current President/CEO, Michael Urdahl.  As of January 1, 2020, current CFO, Bachtiyer Kholmatov will step into the leadership role while continuing to direct the overall financial administration for Pinpoint.  Bachtiyer Kholmatov joined Pinpoint in 2008 as Vice President of Finance.  He was promoted to CFO in 2010 and has served as interim manager of several divisions and companies under Pinpoint Holdings, Inc. during times of transition.  He brings more than 25 years of experience in the field of finance, international trade, IT/software and more in support of the new executive role.

While changes organizationally occur from time to time. One thing that remains constant is Pinpoint’s dedication to rural Nebraska and connecting as many communities and residents to fiber networks as possible.  Pinpoint looks forward to continuing this mission long into the future.

PINPOINT HOLDINGS, INC. SELLS ZONA COMMUNICATIONS

Wednesday, June 19, 2019

Pinpoint Holdings, Inc. (Pinpoint), announced today it has reached a definitive agreement to sell Accipiter Communications (d/b/a Zona Communications—Zona)) of Peoria, AZ, to Wyyerd Group (Wyyerd), for an undisclosed amount.  The sale of Zona Communications is the latest strategic transaction by Pinpoint as it continues its approach of acquiring undervalued companies.

J. Richard Shoemaker, Chairman of the Board of Pinpoint Holdings, Inc., indicated the Zona Communications project continued a pattern where Pinpoint assumed control of a troubled asset and, in turn, made those assets profitable.  “We bought Zona when it was in bankruptcy in early 2017 and our team basically doubled the number of customers in two years”, Shoemaker said.  “This is just the latest example of Pinpoint’s expertise in finding distressed assets, correcting problems, and creating value for our shareholders”.

Shoemaker, who has more than 35 years in the telecommunications industry, went on to observe that today’s consumers are extremely savvy regarding the technology and service they are provided.  He said, “Our experience in Arizona was similar to many other areas in which we have provided service.  It is clear that customers want fiber-based internet instead of older technologies and Pinpoint intends to continue to expand to provide fiber-based internet services in other locales”.

The sale of Zona to Wyyerd was a positive result for all parties according to Pinpoint and Zona CEO Michael Urdahl.  “The capital Wyyerd will bring to Zona will allow us to expand our service throughout the West Valley of Phoenix and beyond”, Urdahl said.  “Also, Pinpoint will now be able to take the cash received from this sale and examine other opportunities which may be available around the country”.

While Pinpoint has actively purchased and rehabilitated various distressed assets around the country, the company also has been committed to providing service in rural Nebraska.  “Pinpoint has provided fiber-based services in locations such as Cambridge, Bartley and Gothenburg and has also provided wireless and internet services throughout Southwest Nebraska”, Shoemaker said, “With the sale of Zona, we will be looking throughout Nebraska and beyond to see where we can fill a niche by providing fiber-based services where customers currently have no such option”.

The deal will be final once regulatory approval has been given by the Federal Communications Commission and notification has been given to the Arizona Corporation Commission.  The entire process should be completed by late summer.
